Advising History

Throughout my three years as a student, I have been fortunate enough to have both Professor Miriam Posner and Professor Jonathan Furner as my advisors. In my first two years (2021 - 2023), Professor Posner was key to my navigation of school as a full time UCLA Library employee. Under her advisership, I developed strategies to better approach my course reading load, gained insight into which courses aligned with my interest in academic librarianship, and mapped out a sensical curricular path. In my last year (2023-2024), Dr. Posner left on sabbatical and I changed my advisor to Professor Jonathan Furner. Professor Furner was critical in helping me develop and write my issue paper, as well as providing resources and insight to assist in my academic interests and professional development. I am extremely grateful to his incredible responsiveness and commitment to finding answers even when they were difficult to find. 

I am also immensely grateful to the informal advising my colleagues at the UCLA Library provided me throughout the years. In particular, I have met formally and informally with Matthew Johnson,  Salma Abumeeiz and Sylvia Page between 2019 and 2024 to discuss library school and professional development; they all have been integral to my growth as a library worker and are hugely responsible for my career growth.

I have also received academic and professional guidance, and been invited to participate in multiple professional opportunities by Renee Romero, Chris Lopez, Shelby Hallman, Allison Benedetti, and Doug Worsham, as well as the colleagues I’ve mentioned above.
