WORK EXPERIENCE

Instructional Designer and Outreach Specialist – UCLA Library 2019 - Present

  • Collaborate with the UCLA Library, campus partners, instructors, and students to create sustainable solutions to challenges in library literacy and the research, writing, and creative process.

  • Deliver instruction sessions on information literacy and library resources for undergraduate classes. Provide general reference and research support for students, faculty and researchers.

  • Directly supervise two student employees working on outreach and social media initiatives for the Arts, Music, and Powell Libraries. 

  • Provide training and support for staff across UCLA Library interested in developing their instructional design and learning technology skills.

  • Collaborate with library units to identify, implement, and evaluate learning space and technology solutions and policies.

  • Facilitate outreach programs, help organize events and exhibits, and collaborate with campus partners on their events.

  • Serve on search committees for library staff positions. 

WI+RE (Writing Instruction + Research Education), Leadership Team (2019 - present)

  • Follow an engaged instructional design process to design and create accessible and scalable instructional resources and tutorials for asynchronous learning.

  • Collaborate with campus partners (the Cluster program, Center for the Advancement of Teaching, the Writing Center, URC-HASS) to develop strategies for the programmatic adoption of WI+RE resources into courses, programs, and syllabi.

  • Provide workshops and training to teaching assistants, faculty, staff, and students on how to create research and writing tutorials using WI+RE’s learner-centered design approach, as well as how to scaffold tutorials into curriculum design.

  • Mentor WI+RE student employees in the development of their learning resources. 

Cluster 27: Global Islam, Library Liaison (2022 - present) 

  • Work with fellow library liaison and a Peer Research and Writing student employee to provide library instruction sessions to the Global Islam class throughout the year based on upcoming assignments and information literacy needs.

  • Provide research assistance on an individual basis for students via appointment. 

Teaching and Learning Functional Team, Member (2019 - 2023)

  • Provide leadership, identify opportunities for improvement and innovation, and facilitate conversation in support of the Library’s teaching and learning efforts. Deliver core competencies in research and information literacy for learners and researchers of all academic levels.

  • Organize Remote Teaching Design Jams, a quarterly event to support ideas and collaboration around remote teaching.

  • Help organize the Anti-Racist Pedagogy Workshop Series.

  • Worked with others to develop curriculum for and co-lead the first two week long Information Literacy Institute intended to introduce teaching assistants and faculty to incorporating information literacy, research skills, and the library meaningfully and intentionally into their courses and assignments.

Web Steering, Lead Site Editor (2019 - present) 

  • Support the Library's web content strategy and continually improve the online user experience.

  • Provide training to library staff on website editing and accessibility.

LibApps Team, Service Administrator (2019 - present) 

  • Manage the LibApps content delivery platform (LibCal, LTI tool), make recommendations to management regarding system-wide implementation and deployment strategies, troubleshoot access and configuration, and provide support and training to staff as needed.

Social Media Content Team, Member and Former Co-Lead (2020 - 2022)

  • Develop and execute a consolidation of all library social media pages under one @uclalibrary handle, establish a unified voice across all Library units, and create content.

BruinCast Operations Specialist – UCLA Center for the Advancement of Teaching 2019 

  • Oversee the daily operation of the Center for the Advancement of Teaching's undergraduate lecture capture course streaming service.

  • Provide support and troubleshoot problems in the learning management system for faculty and students.

  • Supervise student staff.

Video Director – UCLA Extension 2017 - 2018

  • Direct, produce, shoot, and edit videos for UCLA Extension courses and UCLA Extension marketing.

  • Act as liaison between instructors and instructional designers to create pedagogically sound materials for courses.

  • Design a new studio for instructional video: collaborate with vendors, manage the budget, develop layout, and advise in the purchase of new cameras, lights, and other equipment.

  • Work frequently with the learning management system Canvas, the media creation and hosting tool Panopto, the appointment and equipment reservation platform LibCal, and the ticketing system Zendesk.

Assistant Video Editor – David&Goliath 2017 - 2017

  • Act as assistant editor for accounts such as Jack in the Box, Kia, and D&G’s internal nonprofit. 

Video Producer – Virginia Commonwealth University 2011 - 2017

  • Produce, direct, shoot, and edit videos for VCU's brand campaigns, broadcast spots, homepage video features, social media, and internal clients.

  • Collaborate with editorial teams and creative directors in the strategy and execution of the university's branding campaigns.

  • Act as an ambassador to the VCU Monroe Park Campus, the VCU Health System and the School of Medicine communities, fostering relationships with staff, students, and faculty.
